SPONTANEOUS MUSCLE RELEASE TECHNIQUE (SMRT): SMRT is a positional release modality that uses passive contraction of muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue to allow them to release and move toward its’ most comfortable, balanced state.
MUSCLE RELEASE TECHNIQUE ℠: Based up on the principles of Neuromuscular therapy, this unique treatment uses compression, extension, movement and breath to break up adhesions and scar tissue allowing muscle memory to be restored and pain ultimately reduced.
CONNECTIVE TISSUE MASSAGE: Connective Tissue Massage, also known as Myofascial Release, is a form of massage that is aimed at releasing restrictions in the body. This treatment has been known to relieve chronic tension, improve posture, increase the body’s range of motion, and improve the overall health of a person’s body and mind.
CRANIO-SACRAL THERAPY: A non-invasive, gentle therapy that uses the cranio-sacral system of the body. This system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. The therapy uses the cranio-sacral system’s rhythm to detect and balance restrictions that can cause pain and dysfunction throughout the body.
MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE (MLD): Manual Lymph Drainage (also referred to as simply MLD) is a very gentle type of massage therapy used to drain excess fluid from the body and improve the overall functioning of the lymphatic system. MLD is most commonly used to treat Lymphedema, which is characterized by abnormal swelling in the body as a result of a poorly developed or a damaged lymphatic system. MLD massage is a very gentle technique that stretches the skin rather than slide over it. This technique will lightly stretch the walls of the lymph vessels and encourage lymph drainage.
LYMPHEDEMA MANAGEMENT WITH MLD TREATMENT: Do you have lymphedema and have been followed for this condition previously under an insurance-covered program? Have these insurance benefits been exhausted and you no longer qualify to have these treatment services covered under your health plan? Dorie can assist you by continuing your regular manual lymph drainage services on a regular basis. She can monitor your limb volumes, work to reduce fibrosis and swelling, monitor compression use and recommend updating as needed, and help you manage your lymphedema for an improved quality of life. This is not an insurance covered service; however, regular management of one’s lymphedema may help prevent increased incidence of infection and hospitalization, as well as noting changes in condition, which may indicate referral to your health care provider. If more intensive treatment is required, or if treatment sessions could be covered under an individual’s health insurance plan, Dorie can assist in meeting your goals by referring you to her extensive network of healthcare professionals.
POST-SURGICAL RECONSTRUCTION AND/OR PLASTIC SURGERY: Manual lymph drainage is an advanced massage treatment that reduces swelling, removes congestion, minimizes scar tissue formation and stimulates the healing process. MLD is highly recommended for pre/post operative procedures such as facelifts, liposuction, plastic, reconstructive, and orthopedic surgery to facilitate the improved overall health of the tissue and to promote healing.
